So if you’ve been following along all summer, the Sabres have been releasing teasers in the form of extreme close ups of parts of their anticipated new alternate sweater. Today they literally dropped this:
Are you fuckin kidding? So Steve Ott had enough and took matters into his own hands:
Steve Ott: man of the people.
As far as the jersey itself, I surprisingly don’t hate it; it’s original and definitely a departure from the “traditional” uninspired looks we’ve seen other teams come out with over the past couple months. Silver lower half of the sleeves suck tho.
Have a look-see at just a few of the names among the 2013 UFAs.
Bryz is bought out. Mumbling of Danny Briere gettin bought out too. It’s gonna be interesting to see what other teams are gonna exercise that amnestyville horror shit this summer. The draft should be sweet. UFA July 5th should be sweet. Wish it was on July 4th just so I can watch that and Independence Day and see Bill Pullman’s remarkable performance as the President. Here’s one of his “should’ve been nominated for an oscar scenes”:
Anyway. It would be remarkable if contract negotiations in the NHL legit took place like this:
Following in the footsteps of Tampa and Phoenix we have yet another case of a non traditional team attempting a traditional look. Gone are the creative and iconic hurricane warning flags in the arm and lower body striping and in are normal bland stripes that you’ve seen on hockey jerseys a million times over. Oh and they don’t match from home to away sets.
Also gone is the iconic Carolina color-way of their gloves in favor of all red which are like anything you can buy in any hockey shop. Awesome.
Note to all teams that aren’t of the original 6 (hate that inaccurate term btw): you are not traditional teams. Don’t try to be. Embrace your creativity and special design cues.
New Dallas Stars Unis fall under the same description.
