Alex Ovechkin is fuckin good. Plain and simple. He scores highlight goals more often than not and I think we’re all so used to these by now. But, nothing pleases me more than him dancing around Devils defenseman and embarrassing whatever goal they have in net. Last year the Great 8 danced around Merrill and beat Schneider and it looked a little something like this:
And finally here’s what he decided to do last night to be his first goal of the 2015-2016 season. Already a goal of the year candidate.
Keith Kinkaid had no chance on that one.
It’s ok the Keith Kincaid from Bowfinger has some advice for you.
Hey remember that time Strome and Bailey embarrassed Marty on back to back shootout spin goals for the win? No? Well that’s cool cuz YouTube exists:
That was a cool day. Unfortunately we won’t have the privilege of seeing any of these dope moves going further. From the NHL:
Rule 24 – Penalty Shot
The ‘Spin-O-Rama’ move, as described in Section 24.2 of the 2013-14 NHL Rule Book, will no longer be permitted either in Penalty Shot situations or in the Shootout.
Sucks. Cry more about it, goalies. NHL apparently wants to protect the ‘tenders from gettin their feelings hurt now in addition to constant protection from injury. Here’s my question: is it still legal on a regular break away? I NEED to see someone score that way on opening night. Preferably against Schneider.
Like 6 years ago or so when Jason Blake beat the Devils and Scott Clemenson on the same move in Toronto legit the next day John Madden came into my former place of business and i asked him how he felt about it to which he replied, ” Sick move. Whatever he can do for the win.” He loved to elaborate.
I guess less highlights are cool. Bettman doing it big per usual.
Fuck this guy. Statistically best goalie ever to play the game period, but has no class. He straight up blamed the ice conditions and everything else as to why his team got shallacked 7-3 at Yankee Stadium on Sunday. He’s been a whiner his whole career, never humble.
So you let up 5 straight goals as well as 3 goals on 3 shots because the ice was bad?
You’re team allowed like 6 different 3 on 1’s to occur in the game and scoring on 2 of them because of bad ice? Sounds accurate.
After a month long absence from the blog, I figure we might as well jump right back into it…
Last night 10/28/13 marked a special night in hockey. Lindy Ruff now the coach of the Dallas Stars played his first game in Buffalo as an opposing coach for the first time in 14 years. That’s pretty special stuff to coach a team for that long, it’s unfortunate the yug never got to win the Stanley Cup all those years in BuffNation. Also in that game tonight was the debut of Matt Moulson who was acquired yesterday by the Buffalo Sabres from the New York Islanders in exchange for Thomas Vanek. Islanders gave up a good amount to get him so hopefully it pays off for them. Matt Moulson was a well liked guy in that lockerroom, let’s see how this affects the team and overall his dude Johnny Tavs.
Moulson scored two damn goals in his debut for Buff tonight. Doesn’t really matter because he’ll be dealt at the deadline, maybe even sooner.
Tonight was also the home opener for the New York Rangers against the Montreal Canadiens. This comes after a 9 game road trip which was pretty much a nightmare for the team and fans. After the first period I gave the edge to the Rangers but the officiating took over the game for a couple questionable calls. Won’t get into great detail but apparently Brian Boyle should’ve just allowed the opposing player to skate gingerly through the neutral zone instead of bodying him up? And also Chris Kreider shouldn’t make attempts to stay onside just go offside? Regardless the Rangers ended up losing the game 2-0.
In other news: Chicago beat the shit out of Minnesota again, Canucks won, Saku Koivu probably has a concussion after the Brandon DubDub hit which was clean by the way, Robbie Scuds has a broken ankle and will miss a shit ton of time from the Penguin lineup, Hanzal is suspended again, Vanek will play for the Islanders tonight and Carl Hagelin will play for the Rangers tonight.
